Swapping elastic hair bands for plastic clips?

Hi - I wear my hair up constantly (due to work) with elastic hair bands and have just found out they can aid to the brakage of hair. I have fairly damaged hair allready and would like to lessen the impact.

Would it be better to swap to plastic combs and/or clips? Any other suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Thanks :)

Yes that could help as long as you don't clip too much hair into it %26amp; cause breakage that way.

Just changing the way you put up your hair should help too because repeatedly stressing hair in the same section weakens it at that point.

you can buy elastic bands that don't cause damage in most stores...i don't like the plastic clips with the teeth they scare me...once a girl fainted with one in her head and it cut her head open like 30 stitches later......

you should alternate between elastic bands and clips. clips can cause major damage as well because it pulls strands from all angles and the clamping is harmful as well. and they are usually odd shape that go against your head shape. a friend of mine used clips daily and they created a bald spot where she would clip it. when using elastic bands, use cloth ones or the ones without the metal piece that connects it together. target and walmart have goody brand. im a ponytail type female myself and i only use good elastic bands without putting them on too tight....or try chinese sticks. good luck

You'll still need to be careful with the plastic combs and/or clips, but they don't automatically damage the way some elastic bands tend to do.

I spent what I'd normally consider way-too-much on a hair-clip last month, but it's strong and doesn't pinch my hair and it hasn't pulled any out yet (I do still need to be careful). The big clips from Ficcare are nearly $40. I believe the smallest ones are 2/$20 or so. They're an "investment". :-)
