If I threw a medium sized plastic hair clip at someone, could that be considered domestic violence?

After being pushed way beyond the limit with emotional abuse, I threw a hair clip at my live-in boyfriend, which hit him on the forehead, near his hairline. He immediately retaliated with a blow to my temple, using his fist. I suffered from a huge knot on my head and bruising that lasted more than three weeks. At the time, I wanted to call the police; however, I was afraid that I would also be arrested for throwing the object at him. Although I realize that it was wrong to throw something at him, I feel that what he did to me was not justified.

Well, you both were wrong and yes you both can be cited for a domestic violence charge. So, remember no matter what do not throw anything or hit him and he should not do the same be cause a domestic charge is a felony.

His verbal attacks at you were dv just as you throwing the clip was dv. The best thing to do when there are any type of attacks is to leave the situation. If your situation has escalated to this point where he verbally berates you in that manner and you retaliate, and then he hurts you back, the best thing to do is look at this relationship. Is it worth the heartache and hurt you are enduring? Relationships are supposed to be happy not miserable.
