Bad toilet clog?

The other day my girlfriend flushed the toilet and her large hair clip fell in the toilet and went down the drain. I was surprised that it even made it down because of the size of it. Now the toilet is completely clogged and overflows everytime that we try to flush. Is there anyway to fix this without having to call a plumber? We both plunged the toilet a lot and it's still clogged and I also used a metal coat hanger to try and get it out but neither of those didn't work.

you can buy a cheap snake at home depot for about ten bucks. if after snaking from the toilet you still have a clog then you need to snake your cleanouts. those would be the pieces sticking out of the basement floor with a square nut on them

sounds like you need a plumber, i know there expensive but unless you can reach it with sewer snake your out of luck.. and don,t let any one tell you to pour sulfuric acid in-the toilet ,dangerous and you could end up cracking the bowl and that cost more then a plumber alone would ..good luck

You or a plumber can pull the toilet, unclog it from the bottom and reset it. Maybe rent a toilet snake.

get your girl to fess up about flushing tampons and her other boyfriend's used condoms down the toilet and you are halfway there to fixing the problem. kick her cheating butt to the curb, have dinner at taco bell for at least a week, empty out the ensuing raunchy contents of your bowels into the toilet, flush and plunge the night away until it cleans out and never let her be at your crib alone in the future. problem solved...

see if you can borrow a wet-vac to suck the water out. on occasion that's been known to clear the problem.

it's a messy job, but if push comes to shove, you can remove the toilet yourself.
